Fundraising

As we have said throughout the year, we need to turn our attention soon to updating our facilities. Our courts were repainted during the close season, but the old clubhouse urgently needs repairs and this needs money. So we are looking for fundraising ideas. If you are willing to help raise funds, have ideas about sponsorship or novel fundraising events, please contact chair, John Lintott, or any of the committee members.

2010 season

The season is over and we can look back on some great matches for all our teams - and promotion to Division 6 for the men’s team. We saw a renewed focus on coaching, particularly for juniors, and a clutch of new members.

Open Day 2011

Riccall Tennis Club held an open day on Saturday 25th June during Riccall Carnival weekend.  The sun shone down on a great event. Our fastest serve competition proved very popular - with 99 mph as the fastest overall and 86 mph by the best junior.  The strawberries and cream and Pimm’s and lemonade made us all fell like summer had arrived!

Summer Tournament 2011

Our Summer Tournament took place on 4th September and for the most part we managed to avoid the rain.  The Juniors competed in the morning and we witnessed some wonderful tennis.  Christian Hall (pictured left with the other competitiors) was the deserved winner, beating Thomas Fieldsend in the final.

The afternoon saw the adult tournament which was in a mixed double handicap format. The competition was very intense, but the eventual winners were Rex Pocklington and Judith Bray, who are pictured below receiving their trophy from Matt Ward, Head Coach..
